Karissa and her husband, John, both in their mid-twenties, move to Morocco to teach. Karissa hopes the new adventure will alleviate tension in their marriage, including John’s unwillingness to sleep with her. But after John admits he cheated with a man, he reveals a sex addiction that shatters Karissa’s world. Ever the good girl, she fights to keep John’s secret in a country where homosexuality is criminalized, eventually sacrificing everything to save her relationship.

Karissa Swanson, world-traveler, musician, and instructional coach, loves connecting with people and listening to their stories. The lonely experience of living in Morocco while uncovering her husband’s sexuality led Karissa to find resilience in self-love. She lives in Denver, Colorado, with her partner.
